Your interpretation of General George Washington is both informative and fascinating. At times I felt like I was watching a one-man play and at others I felt like I was deep into a great epic novel. The presence of the General definitely added to the success of the evening and did much to enhance Winterthur's Yuletide theme of America's First Families.

Dear Mr. Closs,
You have left an indelible impression on the hearts and minds of everyone at Carden about the greatness of General George Washington and his service in helping to establish the Constitution of our country and serving as the first President.
The regal manner in which you approached the school on horseback served as a potent way to begin your visit. One teacher said that she was so moved that tears came to her eyes. It set the stage for the presentation in our two assemblies and in the classrooms. I think some of those younger students were thinking that you were actually George Washington "returned."
Because of your personal love and respect for the character of Washington through study and research, combined with a wonderful physical bearing, you convey a spirit and conviction that is honest and genuine. It is a stature that is highly imposing. The lingering thoughts and memories of your visit will never be forgotten and they will be of inestimable value to the school and all of us individually.
I appreciate your willingness to focus on some fundamental principles of life with many examples of Washington's high level of leadership, character, and integrity. I think the students could see the value of respecting and emulating his great standards.
I hope you have continued success in carrying on with your message to schools of the country. We all need to do what we can to keep the vision of our great American patriots alive, especially Washington.
You are certainly welcome to use me as a reference and testimony of your effective message. I will look forward to seeing you at Valley Forge in May with our Carden group and perhaps you will have occasion to arrange another Utah trip. Please let me know if I can be of any help.
Most sincerely,Donald R. Jeffs
Director
P .S. Thank you for the wonderful framed portrait of Washington which hangs in our school.
